Los días 14, 15, y 16 de enero de este año se llevó a cabo, el Congreso “Desde El Nacimiento hacia El Nivel Inicial” United Way Panamá organizó junto al Despacho de la Primera Dama, Ministerio de Educación y UNICEF este congreso para tratar temas como el fortalecimiento de las propuestas sobre el trabajo interinstitucional sobre el desarrollo infantil oportuno y adecuado.  Este primer congreso tenía como objetivo dinamizar entre diferentes sectores las últimas metodologías educativas y herramientas necesarias para garantizar una óptima atención entre los 0 a 5 años.

Dirigida a 300 funcionarios de instituciones públicas (docentes de preescolar, estimuladores tempranos, enfermeros, psicólogos y médicos pediatras),  el Congreso, contó con tres ponencias magistrales: “Un concepto potente de bebé: Desafío a implementar por Panamá” por la Dra. María Victoria Peralta de la Universidad de Chile,  “Observación y documentación infantil” por Teresa Correa del Centro de Excelencia para la Primera Infancia de United Way Miami-Dade y “Fundamentos de la relevancia de atención a la primera infancia y la importancia de contar con estándares de aprendizaje en educación inicial» por Zulema Contreras de de la Universidad de Chile.

Además de las ponencias, se realizaron 18 talleres, los que fueron impartidos por profesionales del Meduca, Ministerio de Desarrollo Social, UNICEF, Ministerio de Salud, Dirección de Gestión y Proyectos del Despacho de la Primera Dama, Instituto Panameño de Habilitación Especial, la Secretaría Nacional de Niñez, Adolescencia y Familia, Instituto Nacional de Cultura y el Biomuseo.

Durante la cena inaugural, Gerald Gómez, presidente de United Way Panamá recalcó que “dinamizar entre diferentes sectores las últimas metodologías educativas y herramientas, es necesario para garantizar una óptima atención entre los infantes de 0 a 5 años” era la meta.

Mientras que la ministra de Educación, Lucy Molinar, pidió a los participantes que sean los garantes de que se le dé continuidad anual al congreso de educación inicial.
Debemos reconocer que “los niños y niñas no son sujetos pasivos, son seres inherentemente curiosos, exploradores, atentos y capaces”, dijo la directora de Gestión y Proyectos Especiales del Despacho de la Primera Dama, Ivonne de Martinelli.

“Desde el nacimiento hacia el nivel inicial” sirvió de plataforma para distinguir a la creadora de la Dirección Nacional de Educación Inicial del Meduca, la maestra Neyra Urriola de Pizarro.

Installing best practices through the “From Birth through the Initial Levels” Congress

During January 14th through the 16th this year we held the congress “From Birth through the Initial Levels” along with the Office of the First Lady, the Ministry of Education and UNICEF to address and strengthen issues regarding child developments. This first congress aimed to boost between different sectors with the latest educational methodologies and tools to ensure optimal care between 0-5 years.

Directed to 300 officials of different public institutions (kindergarten teachers, early promoters, nurses, psychologists and pediatricians), the Congress featured three keynote speakers: » A powerful concept of baby: Challenges to be implemented by Panama» by Dr. Maria Victoria Peralta from the University of Chile, «Child Observation and documentation» by Teresa Correa from the Centre of Excellence for Early Childhood in United Way of Miami-Dade and «Fundamentals of the importance of early childhood care and the importance of standards learning in early childhood education» by Zulema Contreras of the University of Chile.

In addition to the presentations, 18 workshops were taught by professionals from Meduca, the Ministry of Social Development, UNICEF, the Ministry of Health, the Bureau of Management Instituto Panameño de Habilitación Especial, the Secretaría Nacional de Niñez, Adolescencia y Familia, Instituto Nacional de Cultura and the Biomuseo.

During the opening dinner, Gerald Gomez, president of United Way Panama stressed that the «dynamics between different sectors and the latest educational methodologies and tools, are necessary to ensure optimal care among infants of 0-5 years,» was the goal of the congress.

While the Minister of Education, Lucy Molinar, asked participants to be the guarantors to organize annually the congress to benefit and give continuity to early education programs.

We must recognize that «children are not passive; they’re inherently curious beings are capable , explorers, and attentive ,» said Managing Director and Special Projects of the Office of the First Lady, Ivonne Martinelli .
